State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) is organizing a summer reading program for youth. Representative Haas invites all youth, ages kindergarten to 6th grade, in the 79th District to participate in her summer reading program. Participating youth must read at least ten books during their summer break and books over 150 pages may count for two books.
“This summer reading program is an excellent way to encourage kids to read during their time off from school,” Haas said. “It’s always tough for parents to keep kids engaged in learning outside of school, and this is an excellent way to do that!”
Please visit your local library, school, or my website to pick up a summer reading form. Forms should be returned to Rep. Haas’ office at 370 E. Court St., Kankakee by Monday, August 1. Those who read their ten books will be invited to an ice cream party later in the summer!
For any further questions about the summer reading program, please contact her district office at 815-523-7779.
