For more than a year, Gov. Pritzker has refused to treat the Illinois General Assembly like the co-equal branch of government it is. He has ruled the state with continuous unilateral executive orders instead of working collaboratively to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. This week, after previously saying the decision should be left up to local school boards, Gov. Pritzker reversed course and announced a statewide mask mandate for all PreK-12 students. It’s time to allow local health departments, elected officials, school administrators—and most importantly, parents!—to determine what is truly in the best interest of students.
As your State Representative, I want to hear from you. Your opinion and input on these important issues matters to me—especially when it comes to the health and wellbeing of our children. If you think Gov. Pritzker should reverse his mask mandate and let local schools decide what is best for their students (and parents decide what is best for their children!), please sign and share this petition.
