KANKAKEE – For her February Local Business Spotlight, State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) recognizes Rubber Rose Books & Print in Kankakee. Rep. Haas spent time touring the business and presented the owner with a certificate of appreciation for their contributions to the community.
“For my February 2025 local business spotlight, I am honored to recognize Rubber Rose Books & Print in Kankakee,” said Rep. Haas. “Rubber Rose provides affordable books and a great space for our community to come together. Because they accept used books, Rubber Rose is able to sell books at a discounted price and even offer some outside for free, ensuring reading remains accessible to everyone.”
Rubber Rose Books & Print was bought by current owner Nicole Barnett in 2022 after she decided to change career paths. Aside from book sales, Nicole creates and distributes the weekly Kankakee and Iroquois County Public Records Bulletin and offers basic copy and print services. Rubber Rose also offers free coffee and tea in the store’s back lounge.
Rep. Haas concluded, “Nicole’s dedication to providing a community space and affordable books for everyone has improved the lives of so many residents in our area. I truly commend her work and mission to build up our community.”
