Celebrating Jane Addams

On this day, Jane Addams became the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1919, she founded the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom and later went on to work extensively at Hull House in Chicago where she helped immigrants. Jane was also well known for her efforts to achieve peace during World War I.
