Rep. Haas Recognizes March as French Heritage Month in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – State Representative Jackie Haas successfully passed HB2361 through the State Government Administration Committee which designates March as French Heritage Month in Illinois.

“Illinois has a deep and rich French heritage, from our state’s early settlers to the cultural influence still present today. I am especially pleased to represent portions of the state with deep roots in the French Heritage corridor. I was happy to partner with the French Heritage Corridor; A French Heritage Society Initiative, as well as the Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society in this legislation. Recognizing March as French Heritage Month is a great way to celebrate the history, promote the study of the French language, and traditions of French-speaking communities that have helped shape our state. I’m proud to support efforts that highlight this important part of Illinois’ history and encourage cultural appreciation among all Illinoisans.”

The bill will now be sent to the House Floor for a full vote.
