KANKAKEE – State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) continues to recognize local businesses in the 79th District with her monthly local business spotlight. For February 2023, Rep. Haas recognized Labas Latte & Vino in Monee, a family business sharing their love for coffee and wine. Rep. Haas presented a certificate of recognition to owners Paul Scheetz and Ema Butauskaite to highlight their contributions to the Monee community.
“Labas Latte & Vino combines two of many of our favorite things and creates a great place for good food, conversation, and community,” said Rep. Haas. “We are fortunate to have a great family business in the 79th District and it was a privilege to recognize it for our local business spotlight for February. Labas Latte & Vino was founded in September 2018. Paul Scheetz is a chiropractor full time and owns the current building where it resides. With a space for rent, he opened a coffee and wine bar in Monee! Following the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigations, he could not sell meat and cheese boards to go, so he transformed this wine and coffee bar into a full restaurant. Labas Latte & Vino has wine pairings every few weeks, fine quality dining, reasonable prices, and delicious food made from scratch. They take pride in the faces of satisfied customers having taken a respite to take part in the cultures brought to Monee from the family’s travels.
