State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) is co-hosting an upcoming health and wellness fair alongside State Senator Patrick Joyce (D-Essex) and in partnership with Ascension Saint Mary Hospital. The event will be held on Monday, October 3rd, from 2:00-6:00PM at the Kankakee Public Library, 201 E. Merchant Street.
The health fair is a joint event with the state lawmakers and the local hospital in an effort to keep the community in and around Kankakee as healthy as possible as the colder months approach. Rep. Haas and Sen. Joyce are encouraging their constituents to stop by and visit the dozens of vendors planned to be in attendance to learn about health resources available to them, listen to speakers, and grab a free flu shot!
“As lawmakers it’s our job to provide resources like this to our community—and bringing all of these health and wellness focused organizations and services under one roof is the first step to making sure we can all be as healthy as possible this season,” said Rep. Haas.
In addition to flu shots, attendees can receive free health screenings, regardless of insurance. To reserve a time slot for a flu shot visit https://classes.amitahealth.org/wlp2/#!/classes/info/E6H0008P.
“Staying healthy, especially as the weather cools down, is important. Yet, not everyone has easy access to all the resources they need,” said Senator Joyce (D-Essex). “This event is a one-stop-shop to help keep families safe this winter.”
Raffles, games, and light refreshments will also be available for all who attend the event. With questions about the event, feel free to contact Rep. Haas at 815-523-7779.
