State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) has partnered with the Treasurer’s Office in order to try and reunite constituents in her district with their unclaimed property.
The Treasurer’s Office estimates that they have around $3.5 billion worth of unclaimed properties. With this initiative, the state is hoping to contact the owners of the unclaimed property and help them to file the appropriate claim to get it back.
“I am excited about helping the Treasurer’s Office with their initiative in my district,” Rep. Haas said. “There is a lot of money sitting in this unclaimed property and I want to do what I can to return this property back to its rightful owners.”
