Fighting For You!
DCFS Failures
My colleagues and I on the House Human Services Appropriations Committee held a hearing on the failures of DCFS, but so much more needs to be done to address the critical issues within the agency. Our children cannot wait.

Comments of the Governor’s State Budget
After the Governor’s Budget Address, it’s safe to say that he will continue to be dishonest with Illinoisans. Please see my full statement below.
Back in Session
The House is back in session! We are scheduled to be in Springfield until the middle of April. I look forward to presenting my bills in committee and, hopefully, on the floor. Follow along with committee activity and floor debate live at https://ilga.gov/houseaudvid.asp
Legislative Press Conference
On February 17th, with Jim Rowe, Kankakee County State’s Attorney and Sheriff Mike Downey, I had a press conference regarding the package of legislation I have introduced to support law enforcement and deter crime. This package was assigned to the Judiciary Criminal Committee, but the Democrats who control the committee process refused to call them and give them a fair hearing. I hope that members on both sides of the aisle can come together to get this package passed into law.

Status on House Bill 4545
I am pleased to say that my bill, HB 4545, passed out of committee unanimously and then passed the House with 103 “yes” votes. This bill will require HFS to look into procuring technology to make the MEDI and MCO portal systems in sync with each other. This will increase efficiency and effectiveness across the industry! I look forward to continuing to work with all stakeholders on this bill!

Remembering my Dad It’s been a long and difficult month with the sudden passing of my dad, Jim LaMotte. I’m grateful to everyone who has reached out with such kind words and support. My dad was a tireless advocate for the fire service, public safety and the community as a whole. He was an exemplary role model and public servant. We are so proud of him, his lifetime of service and accomplishments. He will be greatly missed. Heaven gained one of the best and although our hearts may be heavy, our lives and memories are full Take a minute and read this wonderful article written in honor of my dad
