SPRINGFIELD – State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) issued the following statement after advancing HB79 which protects the retirement benefits of school security guards who are part of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF):
“Our schools rely on experienced security personnel to help keep students and staff safe. This bill ensures that retired law enforcement officers can now return to work as school security guards without jeopardizing their hard-earned retirement benefits, working up to 999 hours annually (up from 599). It’s a common-sense measure that supports public safety while protecting the financial security of those who dedicate their careers to keeping us safe.”
