KANKAKEE – For her April 2023 Local Business Spotlight, State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) is honoring Brian’s Place in Monee. Rep. Haas presented a certificate to operators Brian Cann and Ruben Frausto to recognize their almost 33 year old business.
“Brian’s Place has delicious ribs, steaks, tacos, and burgers that provide a delicious meal for the hardworking people of southeast Will County,” said Rep. Haas. “It also brings a slice of summer—and the beach—in the summer with their sand volleyball court hosting teams to gather together and have fun with good food. It’s an honor to recognize this small business for their success and being a little oasis for families in our communities to sit down and enjoy a deliciously cooked meal.”
Brian Cann began Brian’s Place in May 1990 as a bar. When it moved in 1995 to its current location on Governors Highway in Monee, it became a hamburger restaurant that also served soups and chili. The summer of 1995, they began hosting a summer volleyball league that still continues for three nights a week and eight teams a night on their sand volleyball court. In 2008, Brian’s Place became a full service family restaurant, serving all types of dishes and American food. The current owner is Ruben Frausto and Brian Cann works as the restaurant’s operator.
