Rep. Haas Appointed to Six Committees for 104th G.A.

SPRINGFIELD – Yesterday, State Representative Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) was appointed to serve on six House committees, three of which she will hold the role of Republican Spokesperson. House Republican Leader Tony McCombie made committee appointments today as legislators returned to Springfield for their first full week of the 104th General Assembly.

Rep. Haas was named as the Republican Spokesperson and ranking member on the Health Care Availability and Access Committee, Mental Health Committee, and Prescription Drug Affordability Committee. She will also serve on the Appropriations: Health and Human Services Committee, Human Services Committee, and International Relations, Tourism, and Trade Committee.

“I am honored to be assigned to serve on six committees for the 104th General Assembly,” said Rep. Haas. “There are many critical issues that my constituents, and residents across the state, desperately need to be addressed. I plan to tackle some of these issues head-on in these committees by supporting good public policy and fighting against bills that harm the hardworking men and women we are elected to represent.”

For over 30 years, Rep. Haas has served her community as a social worker and has been the CEO of the Helen Wheeler Center since 2000. She is currently serving her third term in office as a State Representative.

Rep. Haas concluded, “My experience in the mental health industry will lend to my role on these committees, ensuring I am making the best decisions for the people of our state. I look forward to being a voice for common-sense change on these committees in the 104th General Assembly.”
